Why are there more IT schools than IT jobs currently in the US out side of outsourcing? Make sure not to confuse IT with networking. The term IT includes web design, database integration, etc. IT has a very broad definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/portal:info... It is usually difficult to outsource network persons because when it all comes down to it networkers not only deal with software issues but also have to physically deal with hardware. Outsourcing physical access to your equipment especially in an emergency is difficult and could be quite costly. But the point is no one is going to travel from Asia and back to remove and replace a router. Even if the physical aspect is farmed out locally, the local person has to be knowledgeable enough to do the job. Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/information... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/portal:info... Basic supply and demand. The schools exist because people are willing to pay to go. It's not as bad as it was a few years ago when I saw some ads that said "Quit your job and become a computer professional!". That brought all kinds of people that really weren't qualifed into the field, and it has taken a few years to shake them back out. |
