Indian and midle eastern immigrants, they can barely speak english, what jobs are they getting here in the us? |
i see many indian and middle eastern immigrants who barely speak a lick of english and some of them are very wealthy, what the hell are they doing? y dont u see the remaining indians and middle easterns who speak excellent english.., n dude.. try not comparing that standard with your local slang of so called 'American' English! British English rocks!! American English has got just no grammar in it!! Its full of slang.. and you talk abt others'!!!!!!!! immigrants who wish to permanently live in another country whatever that countries main language is should learn the languange first before arriving because it would make it much easier for them to communicate with the general population As far as I know, they usually find work among their community where they can communicate in their native language. Most of the time these jobs are low skilled and work places are owned by their fellow country men. Because of strong networked relationships and very simple living standard (high savings) they end up accumulating good amount of bucks. I have met some truly brilliant people from India. Two doctors who are psychiatrists. Think about that. One of the most difficult medical professions, a different language, a different culture, 10,000 miles from home. And they are successfully treating patients in the US. Seems like a good thing to me. I also met a doctor who is chief of cancer surgery. His wife is a medical doctor as well. Both are from India. They also brought one of the parents to the US. I think that is an amazing accomplishment. They own all the 7-elevs and circle K's. Some liquor stores to but thats korean terretory there they dont wnat to get involbed in no turf war. Many are arriving with money they brought with them from their country of origin into our economy, because at home they were doctors and architects and engineers. They fled for a variety of reasons - and until they learn English (one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn to speak well, as evidenced by so many members of this board who don't) they are relegated to low service jobs. Just like the Italians before them, and the Germans, and the Dutch, and the millions of Mexicans and other Hispanics whose contributions have been so important to this country. In short - this process has been going on for generations. Some come poor, looking for a new chance - and they have become the Rockefellers and the Trumps and the Bill Gates. Some come with experience and training, and they get certified and learn to speak English. There are some who don't - some who become criminals and some who try to live on the government dole and some who are more trouble than they're worth. Just like every other group, including the neighborhood you live in. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! We Indians read, write and talk good British English, and don't compare us with those middle-easterners. |
