Are so-called "off-the-books" jobs as readily available in Canada as they are in the US? |
Undocumented Employment in Canada In Atlantic Canada, which includes the maritimes, we call those jobs "getting paid under the table" and there is literally an "under the table economy" in Atlantic Canada, just as in many other places. However, the types of jobs available might be limited. The ones I know about include construction work - all kinds, private contract work, landscaping, snow clearing, private tutoring, farm help, private day care, domestic help, babysitting, kitchen work, any kind of odd job you can find a market for, etc. Just as in the rest of North America, the baby boomers are retiring and as a result various job niches are opening up that were not previously available.
