Do you think our government does a good job in protection us from ourselves? |
My husband and I were discussing this and he thinks the gov does a good job protecting us from ourselves... but I am not to sure. What he means is they protect us from information that might cause panic, or keeping a balace between the extreme left and the extreme right... just enough so no one side freaks out... stuff like that. But I am not sure that they are doing it to protect us... Just wondering what others think of this. In the question lies the problem,it is not the governments job to protect us from ourselves. In an extreme case where some information may cause mass panic you could justify spoon feeding info over a period of time but to deny info is not justified. It is this same mentality which has created many laws that serve no purpose and only serve to restrain the freedom of the individual,it's why 40% of the people in our prisons are in there for non violent drug offences, because the govt feels it is their duty to protect us against ourselves, there's just one example. There are of course many more than I have the time to go into. Seriously, the government has better things to do than to protect us from ourselves. We need to use common sense. That is why government is so big.....Democrats do not think that the common man can make decisions on their own. They thrive on big business, government control, government programs, anything to make us dependent on them. It is time for us to take back our lives. Do as little as we can to use all of these 'services' and take care of ourselves. NO. they are too busy protecting themselves from us. I don't think the Govt should protect us from ourselves, how would you know what there reasoning is, maybe they just don't want us to complain. National security is a different story, we(the Govt) have to keep secrets. Information that causes panic, lady please, they come on tv saying terrorists 50 times, terrorists all over the place and that makes millions panic. |
