How can an American fluent in French find a job w/ a US company w/ branches in Europe? |
I know that is the best way for an American to get a job "over there." Marriage or French ancestors are not in my past or future. I also know it's harder than heck to find a job in Europe as a non-EU citizen. I speak very good French (got my MA), have studied and taught in France on a short-term contract. Problem is I have been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how the heck to get a job over there. Doesn't need to be specifically France--Belgium, Ireland, UK, Luxembourg, Spain...about anywhere in Western Europe'll do! Can anyone think of any good employment opportunity to get a Europhile to Europe? I have taught high school, college, and have non-profit (grant-writing) expereince. How can I transfer these skills to the business world and what are good US companies I could check into? You should also consider a back-door way of getting there- find a French company that needs people in the US or Canada, then when a transfer possibility arises, go for it. Monster , Yahoo Hotjobs, Careerbuilder are some of the largest job boards, where you can apply for jobs and upload your resume. Since Craigslist, allows free job postings, many smaller companies post their vacancies on this online classifieds website. You can also search for jobs from multiple websites using aggregators like SimplyHired and Indeed. Referrals are also becoming a increasingly popular way to get hired.
