How a foreigner can find university and a job in US?

how me and my girlfriend can move to US to live and study there, apart from aplying for greencard

It is very difficult these days because the US is strict now. September 11 changed everything. If you can be accepted to a university or get a job FIRST, that would be idea. You'll have an easier chance getting a visa if you have proof that you are going to use it. I think schools or companys will provide help if they accept you/hire you. If you don't enter the U.S.legally, chances are good you won't be around long enough to finish college.
go to university which teaches spoken english and teach and get us ready for exams like toefl and all and go abroad and study and do job and live there
