I'm about to go to college, what should I major in if I want to find a good job when I immigrate to the US? |
Hi! I'm to start college this year and I'm planning to migrate to the US later in life, I might even transfer to a US university soon, I have a lot of options on what I can major in, I need to major in something that'll help me get a job in the US, so I'll tell you what I'm considering taking, you can suggest to me what major I should take, including majors that I havent put on my list Film - I love film but it's too risky, don't think I want to risk going to film school and ending up with nothing, I'd rather do independent films Business Administration Business with IT MicroBiology - I'm good at Biology and Chemistry but it's something I just dont love, but if it can get me a good job in the US let me know Business computing E-Commerce Business, computers, geography, marketing, or economics (US) are big fields here. Engineering or microbiology, There is a huge shortage of engineers in this country and there retiring faster than we can replace them. Microbiology with an emphisis on DNA and stem cell reserch will get into this country and get a good job. Buisness is always good and always has a job somewhere... but you should always do what you love there are 10000000000000000000000 jobs in the US some are just a little harder to find then other. In the list you gave, you mentioned that though you dislike Biology and Chemistry, that you do well in those areas. Yet you love film. Looking at it in an unbiased way, you would make more money in a career such as Business or Microbiology. But in the end, keep in mind, you are going to have to go to school, get a degree in one of those areas, (depending on how professional at your chosen career you want to be) get an even higher education, then, depending on where you go (and your professors) you will get and seek out jobs, living it in the real world. And you will work, and work, until you stop. Do you feel that it will be worth it...to go through all of that_, to put it vaguely, that stuff, to be in a career that you will dislike, and perhaps grow to thoroughly despise? If you love films, and I will quote a film, "If you wake up in the morning, and you can't think of anything but" film, "then you should be," working in film. If you want it, if you truly love films, you are going to have to fight for it, and it will be risky, but in the end do you really want to sell yourself so that you can make a couple bucks, and feel miserable inside. You are the only person who knows how you feel inside, and not me, or anyone else, can ever tell you what to do or how to feel. As corny as it sounds, go with your heart, it won't let you down. |
