What's the best way for a UK citizen to find a job in the US? |
My fiance is planning on moving here as soon as the application is approved. We've been looking for 2 years for a job for him here in the states. But there's so much red tape that no US business wants to hire him from abroad because they can just find someone in the states. Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestions? thanks so much.. We plan on living in chicago He works for the gov't over there now in fiance and enviroment. But his degree is actually in Mining Engineering. So he's got experience with intercountry relations, fiances, enviroment and of course mining. alias_dictus... I agreed with you on this point :) ... As for dileen, I think the best way for him to find a job is for YOU to get him here first. My husband looked for a job in the US while he lives in France and it was really tough. No companies want to put up their money to sponsor you and than for you to leave them. (UNLESS they're HUGE) Especially my husband was majored in science n math.. and now work for an oil company.. and i couldn't find any jobs related to what he does in Chicago. ... (HOUSTON??? don't know yet) K, get to the point. You can sponsor your fiance to the US (I know you're waiting for the application).. get married.. adjust his status till he get a greencard.. than he'll find a job ezier that way. Good luck to you both. My uncle (from Canada) got sponsored when he applied for a job (programmer) in LA, CA.. Keep trying.. Hope to hear the good new from you :) The first thing to do is keep up with the news. http://www.enewsreference.com Probably the easiest thing would be to get a job with a company in the UK that does business in the US and then transfer to the US through them when the opportunity arises. Good luck in both him finding a job and youand him getting married. Why do you want to live in Chicago? Very cold and windy winters? Modified 1 year ago check with immigrations and find out what you need to do for him before he arrives thank you This seems to be the way things are going in the good ol' US of A. No Jobs... I think he may have to change career paths upon arrival. My dad has had to change job titles on a regular basis to stay afloat. I find myself tutoring and changing my fields of study on a regular basis now. I had a friend who was here on a work visa from France. She had like 4 different jobs (including textiles assembly) before finally going to cook vegan foods on a yacht for some rich lady. Good luck to your future hubby. Have you thought about going to England instead? |
