Isn't offshoring US jobs to foreign contries a way for US corporations to get around immigration problems?

And a way to depress the US wages of the highley skilled, college-educated employees? TWH05242007-3

George C, I think lowering local labor costs exploiting desperate underpaid workers abroad is probably the number one reason why jobs are off-shored. Yet you throw it in as an afterthought?

Capitalism is about profits. It is not about wages, workers rights,or America. The Republican Congress that people voted for 5 consecutive times, gave a lot to their wealthy contributors.Anyone in favor of a wage cut-vote Republican.

yes

It is simply a way to obtain the cheap labor required to keep the US capitalistic economy functioning.

It should be a way to go out of buisness and for the CEO s to be locked up

Most companies outsource or move their plants for only a few reasons.
1. Taxes too high in the US - When we hear the liberals talk about increasing taxes on the rich and on corporations, its no wonder they want to leave our country.

2. Red Tape and environmental regulations that are unrealistic - When a company has to spend millions of dollars only because " some agency " thinks it will reduce emissions or such, then the company loses money. Stock holders will kick out any CEO who loses money if they are smart.

3. Constant increases in cost of labor, Workman's comp and Health insurance - On the average, a company matches about 40% of your weekly pay in Workman's comp wages. Unions, which were good in the 20-30's, have pushed the cost of some companies doing business way to high. Why should a person on an assembly line make $25.00 per hour to put lug-nuts on a Chevy????

Companies move overseas for cheaper labor, less taxes and less red-tape. Unless or until America turns the clock back and makes the economy where companies can do business and compete, we will see jobs going out the door left and right.

The only thing Ross Perot said that made sense, " that sucking sound you hear, that's jobs leaving this country."

The story never told about off-shoring is how bad it works. Ten years ago it was the hot fad that every large company had to try. The few success stories enjoyed the media attention. The many duds don't like much public attention.

I managed some offshore people during the Y2K years. They made about $6 an hour, their companies billed for at least five times what the works got and half the work product was thrown out or redone.

It may work for call centers but not much more.

and also a way to avoid taxes

Yes it is.
