If we create millions of jobs with renewable energy won't we also need immigrants to help us with?

such a huge undertaking? People we need these immigrants unless you want to start paying $10 dollars for a head of lettuce. This is what made America great in the first place was being the land of opportunity. We need more of this to bring the economy back from the dead and we need healthy living for our families. I don't know about you but I don't want Chinese lettuce. They need us and we need them so whats the problem?

You obviously know nothing about growing lettuce and are just using someone else's poorly thought out drivel. Illegals do nothing for the economy. There are plenty of LEGAL Americans that would want those jobs.

Slave states argued that their economies would crumble without slave labor. Did that justify slavery then? Does it justify the exploitation of people today?

Nobody is against immigration, we are all either immigrants or decendence of immigrants, except for the Native Americans of course. The issue is ILLGEGAL immigrants, despite being hardworking and 鈥渙nly wanting to support their families鈥? What is the difference between an Illegal immigrant and a Drug dealer?

Then there is the issue of fairness; To allow the illegals to stay and gain citizenship is a slap in the face to all of those who have paid their fees and are patiently waiting, years even decades for their chance to immigrate. Just imagine how you would feel if you purchased a ticket for a movie, stood in line for hours to be sitted only, to be told that the sits have all been taken by people who snuck in the back door.

We do need immigrants there is never been a doubt about it, but we need to secure our borders, and expedite the procedure to allow LEGAL Immigrants into the country.

Actually yes we will. Legal Ones. I want to know where everyone gets off thinking that Americans don't want those jobs. Alot of people are living on the streets many single mothers who would do it just to get a roof over their childrens heads as well a whole families who have no place to live because illegals take all the of the housing that would be affordable to these families and cram way more people in them and landlords just want to make the money on it so they will through out a family of 4 in order to let 10 illegals live there because they all pitch in and pay more rent than the family of 4 would. Everyone has such a warped sense of what these illegals do. They are law breakers. Once they break the law they must continue to break the law to be here and that is the bottom line.

Sir/ma'am/mineral/or vegetable..whoever you maybe, you need to get a crowbar or other prying tool and firmly insert it into your rectum and pop you head out of your ***...what made America great was not cheap labor...that is why grandpa and great grandpa fought tooth and nail for labor reform so all people could have protection of the law from robber barons who required people, even children to work 12 or more hour days with little rest and even smaller pay sometimes in hazardous jobs that ultimately resulted in death. Trucking in illegals to preform the work you are unwilling to do is little more than slavery. You can justify it by paying them a buck or two so you can get your genetically engineered franken food at Wal-mart dirt cheap but its still trafficking of slaves.
What will make this country great again is to rid it of the elitist attitude of some work being beneath them. My father, my grandfather and thankfully it was passed on to me had a work ethic that a job was a job and there was no shame in picking cotton or digging a ditch to put food on the table. Today there is no work ethic, only the liberal ideals and sophomoric dribble such as what just fell out of your cakehole. Its further compounded by white guilt and the elevation of one ehtnic group over another...I mean some of the stupidity that has come out of congress the last thirty years such as NAFTA has undermined the American worker, basically its gutted our infrastructure and whats more with uncontrolled lobbying groups, the rich and affluent have more of congresses attention than the people who voted for them resulting in laws that favor big business, the affluent and at time foreign interest. If you want to bring American back to its golden days, stop being a tree hugging hippy brainwashed by the party line and learn to think for yourself.

We need "LEGAL" immigrants, its what this country was founded on. Not illegal immigrants. Consider, if you would, the infrastructure needed to support 1 million workers. Many bring their families who will require medical services that they don't pay for, schools that they don't pay for, welfare and charity services they don't par for. Many send the bulk of their earnings out of the country to their home country without paying the taxes required. They don't pay into the nearly bankrupt social security system. In some locals they obtain drivers licenses or don't but still drive cars without the benefit of insurance. If they cause an accident the other driver or their insurance must pay.

Also consider that in the US currently unemployment is roughly 5.5 %. That is almost 30 million people/ citizens out of work and looking for work, not to mention those on welfare rolls that are capable of employment.

You speak of the economy as being dead. Have you really looked at the economy recently. It is VERY healthy by any standards applied to it. I encourage you to investigate this a little more.

One more thing, if we are not paying high prices for local lettuce harvested by illegal immigrants then those people are being seriously exploited by their employers or labor contractors. I encourage you to do some research. Drive by a construction project and learn how many very good paying jobs, semi skilled and skilled, are being done by immigrants, legal or illegal.

The answers are not simple. I encourage anyone to immigrate to the US legally and become American Citizens with all the rights, privileges and responsibilities that encompass' that status.

1) Immigrants come into this country every day...LEGALLY.

2) There will always be people willing to pick lettuce.

3) The economy IS healthy.

4) My family is healthy because I take care of them properly and carefully.

5) If you don't want Chinese lettuce, then don't buy any.
