I'm applying for jobs in America from the UK and it asks for my salary requirement for a casting assistant

What would be a realistic amount to ask for? I don't want to go too high as they won't even consider me but if I go too low then the same reasoning applies. I'm on about 拢12000/$22000 at the moment but I'm working in a bank. Would $25000 be appropriate? The job is in LA. Thank you

I agree with the first answer. Say "negotiable" but if they insist on an amount $25,000 sounds pretty safe to go with. Remember the rate of pay is a bit higher in L.A. too so you may luck out in the end.
Put "negotiable", and if you have space point out that you know salaries are different in the US than in the UK.
Depends on what you're willing to live on, where you will be living, and how far you want your commute to be. A $25,000/yr income amounts to about $12/hour, which it'll be difficult at best to manage with since we don't have a developed rail system like the UK has for getting around. There is the bus transit system, and even that isn't an inexpensive way to get around.

Ask yourself if that $3k difference in pay is enough to pay for air travel, getting an apartment or roommate, local travel expenses, food expense, etc.

Putting "Negotiable" on that salary field is really only if you have other skillsets that the prospective employer could use. If you already have experience working for a bank, you might want to apply for a similar banking job in the USA.
