To get a job in UK, is it better to go there first and then look for a job?

I have a canadian citizenship and I want to get a job in Uk, but looking for an employer online, who will hire me is very hard. So I was thinking of going to Uk and have a stack of resumes ready and just go and look for a job down there around different places. But will thye still hire me, since I am a non-Eu national?

You will most certainly need a work permit.

My rule is don't go anywhere unless you have a job waiting, I learned the hard way.
I would secure a job before you come over to save yourself the worry of having no money whilst you're here. Alternatively, consider coming over and working for a temping agency whilst you take your resumes to potential employers. This way you'll be bringing in a bit of money to tide you over.

i think you would have a better chance of going their than you would of of sending resumes online. you should see what the canadian government has to offer their also.
Id assume you would need some sort of work permit ask the home office for advice or just have a look on their site for advice. I would suggest getting a job first even though it may be hard because there are not enough jobe here for uk residents so you need some sort of skill or its not worth the paperwork or hassel for the company to hire you. If you are skilled an agency will help you sort out a work permit. If you come without and dont find a job you risk being kicked out and they are not too happy about you returning if you have been kicked out
You would probably have to find someone first who would be interested in the skills you have to offer. It might be slightly tricky as it will involve a working permit, however, should not be difficult if you posses the right set of skills. I would suggest that you find a job or at least some interest prior to taking off.
