How could I go about finding a summer job in the UK? |
I've been studying English for quite a long time but I've really grown tired of spending money on language courses abroad when I could very well practise the language by living in the UK and mixing with Brits, earning money to live on in the meantime! However, I wouldn't know how to go about finding a summer job in the UK (not necessarily London). All the people I've heard of got their jobs by chance and usually ended up working at McDonald's, Burger King and the like, which, much as I respect people working there, isn't quite what I'm looking for since it wouldn't give me the chance of practising the language as much as I would like to. What, frankly, could I actually aspire to? And, most importantly, could anyone suggest what I should do in order to safely find a job, possibly even before leaving for the UK? Thank you. By the way, I'm Italian. why don't you ring the caravan sites around the coast of England eg haven/ cinque port / butlins or look on there web sites they always looking for people and for the summer holidays you got your self a job money and free accommodation give it a go look on www.gumtree.com it has loads of jobs in london, although most of them want you to start immediately. working in a pub/bar is good, you can often do it to improve your language and you get to meet lots of people. good luck! If your Italian then you are legally free to come and go from and work in the UK as you please. You will have to get a UK national insurance number first though to be able to work. I think if you go on the inland revenue website you should be able to find out how to get this. If your looking for just a summer job there are plenty of UK recruitment agencies that will get you a job in better places than the likes of McDonalds. Just do a search on the internet for Recruitment agencies UK or whatever city you intend to visit. Good luck |
