Canadian with job offer in the UK? |
Hi, I accepted a job offer with a major company in the UK for a specialised position. They are currently working on obtaining a work visa for me but have concerns that my education has only left me with a certificate rather than a degree. How much will this affect my chances to be accepted for the visa? What does immigration look for when approving a visa and is it generally difficult to get one? Thanks for any information. If you have already received a genuine job offer, then I seriously doubt that you will have a problem getting a work visa....unless you have something sinister lurking in your background.... Congratulations and I hope you enjoy your time over here! If you want to run out on your country you won't get any help from me. what kind of a crap answer is that, robert?? Hi. It seems that as far as your education is concerned, a lot of people here go with certificates instead of degrees, so I wouldn't think that would affect you. If you're the best person for the job, which the company obviously thinks you are, then I don't think you'll have a problem. And no, it isn't difficult to get a visa...I'm American and married to an Englishman. We applied for myself and our daughter for permanent residence and it took a whole 8 days for me to receive it!! lol If the company are doing it on your behalf, then it will be all the easier as they've probably done this before and know the best way to get you your visa...so pretty much as long as you don't have a criminal record, you should be approved pretty quickly. Good luck with the move and the new job. If you have accepted your job offer and have it in writing then I don't think you will have any problems with your work visa. I think you are worrying unnecessarily. Immigration also take into account any police checks they do on you. Your current finances so you will need to provide evidence of that. Where you will be living and your current job offer. My husband came here from the USA with zero qualifications or money. But I had to provide him with security as he did not have any access to public funding i.e. benefits of any sort. I do not think you will either so you might want to consider taking out medical insurance before you come here. |
