How can i get permission to legally work in the UK without marriage and without a company sponsoring me?

i dont have enough points for a highly skille worker visa and applying to jobs in the uk from the us is difficult since a face to face interview can't be done. i am a US citizen.

Looks like you've covered all angles. The highly skilled is usually the easiest independent route. The other option is to work for a British company in the States and hope you get a transfer to the UK. Or if you have loadsa money, you could set up a biz here.

Check out the Highly Skilled Migration Program (HSMP) and see if you qualify.
I don't think you can.! You could start a business, but you have to prove you have a minimum amount of money to do so (like 100,000 拢 or thereabouts) you still can't get a visa.
Find a woman with a GB passport who is willing to marry you!

There is such a big problem with immigration at the moment that it would probably take a very long time to process any application that you may make.... You could be married in a few months!
