I have valid work permit for UK? |
I am working with the big software firm and working as a onsite co-ordinator from UK office. I would like to work in UK. I can surely get a job in a UK. however, I am afraid about the legal issues related with the work permit. Can I apply for the job here in UK, with the existing work permit ? If my new employer is ready to provide me a work permit then is my current employer restrict me to do so ? Is there any legal actions about this ? What is the procedure I need to follow to avoid any legal actions Thanks in advance. The best advice I can give you is to actually hire an immigration lawyer and talk to him about it. The first consultation is usually free and they can help you get all the paperwork you need to keep you out of trouble for a few hours of their time. Besides, if the government has a problem with it, you then have a lawyer to defend you. This is the step I did applying in Canada from the US. It was the best money I ever spent! On a side note, I suggest you read carefully the conditions outlined on your work permit. Usually a work permit outlines that you can only work in your field and sometimes only for a certain employer. If you violate those requirements, then you can get into trouble. You often need to file for another work permit if you wish to change employers or apply to work in a different field than what you are trained for. Look into getting what they call an "Open work permit" which will allow you to work anywhere you want within your field. But run it through the lawyer first, they can advise you more about the rules for worker permits in the country you are applying for. Good luck! |
