Job hunting in UK, what am I doing wrong?I am an Indian chartered accountant, with no UK experience.?

It's been going on for a couple of months, can't even manage to get an interview. Got myself registered with a few consultants too. I have got only a Limited leave to remain visa till July 2007. Any suggessions...

Approach firms directly. Agencies and consultancies are rubbish and don't know what they are doing. Write a letter, set it out professionally and include your CV. Alternate between sending it via post and email, perhaps you could telephone a few. Check the internet for a directory of chartered accountants so that you have addresses. I was looking for a specific job and the consultancies didn't help me at all. I wrote to many, many places before I got my current job so keep on at it and you will perceiver. Good luck!
keep looking ,my friend, the uk needs people of your standing.
Go as an office clerk in an accountancy firm and see if you can work your way up !
