How available are jobs in the UK from December till April in the Newcastle area?

How available are jobs in the UK from December till April in the Newcastle area?

I don't know specifically about the Newcastle area but you will find that a lot of the big department stores and supermarkets will be taking people on for work due to the Christmas period.

Most companies will start advertising for those positions in the next month or so.

So finding at job in that field shouldn't be a problem.

Below is a link to the Jobcenter Plus website, you can also check the local papers.

If you research which companies are in the area, then you can visit their websites as some companies advertise available positions on there.

Like the above says, during the Christmas period there are quite a few jobs going.

You can check on-line for the Evening Chronicle job pages, or if you are currently in Newcastle, buy the Evening Chronicle on Thursdays for the job paper.

Fenwicks are currently advertising in their window for Christmas staff already, Primark, Marks and Spencer and BHS are also quite popular departmental stores.

Good luck!

You don't say what type of job you're looking for, but around Christmas, there are lots, and varied. Shop, pub, bar and restaurant jobs are most common. As the local colleges and universities educate thousands of students who come in to the area, you will find a lot of vacancies in these positions out of term time, when (some, not all) students return home for Christmas. In some cases, you'll be able to combine jobs - if you have the time! - by working in shops during the day, and pubs/bars/clubs at night, if necessary.

Bear in mind, though, that the majority of these positions disappear by the end of January. In this high (ish) unemployment area, I think you would be hard pushed to be kept on until April, unless you had exceptional or required qualities, which you had already proven.

You could, though, at that time, look at the temping agencies for various types of work. Contracting, admin and building agencies are generally in the town centre itself, so you could register with them at any time.

As I stated, it really depends on what type of work you are looking for - if you wish to pm me about this, I can give you far more specific information and links.

Best of luck!
