What should I do about my friend? Not sure who to trust?

I'm in a difficult situation at the moment. I have been going out with a girl I really like for the past 6 months. We get on really well and we have talked about moving out and are due to go on holiday next month.

The thing is my so called best friend has gone really weird over this. I have known him for ages and before I met my girlfriend we used to go out drinking every weekend however we both got tired of this. He is continually complaining saying I never do anything anymore, even though I make a point of seeing him at least once a week. But recently I have become really fed up with his behaviour, he has gotten a job in Switzerland and I am pleased for him but he now slates me and everybody I know for still living in their home town and having s**t jobs. Yesterday he asked me to do something but I was having a family meal to which he again said I never do anything anymore even though I saw him last Friday. Not sure what to do, as he is testing my patience, my girlfriend

says he is being childish. My parents say he is jealous and my sisters think he is not being a very good friend and to ignore him. Whilst I value all of their opinions part of me doesn't want to lose contact with him but another part of me thinks I may be better off without him but feel guilty for thinking this. Any advice?

Just because he's being childish doesn't mean you have to cut him off.

Like I always say, talk to him. Tell him he's pushing people's patience by dissing their jobs and lives, and ask him what kind of things he'd like to do that you're not doing. It would be silly if he's feeling left out because you've lost spontaneity. If you wanted, you could call him up and ask him to do something random right then, without planning. If he wishes he were on the vacation, you could plan a camping trip or something with just him. Less costly and still a good time.

You've done what you can, but it seems like he's missing something. Definitely talk to him. Even if he doesn't improve right away.

And hey, good luck. ^_^

maybe you didnt pay enough attention to him like you used to. i felt that way to my friend too, she left. and it pains me when i see her with this guy. weve been friends for just a year but weve got really close. and then there came this guy. now she starves herself with this guy. doing nothing but hanging out with the guy. (both of them dont eat) now shes gotten really skinny and i dont know what to do. she wont listen to me cause even though how wrong the guy was, she'd still follow him.

he's bitter. what does he want from you?

Is he gay for you because thats the only explanation I can think of.

Short of writing him off as a lost cause immedately , all you can do is confront him and tell him to shape up or don't bother calling again.
