American seeking Job in France, Germany, Italy, etc.? |
Could anyone give me details on how best to locate a job in France, Germany, Italy, Spain or Switzerland? I'd like to work and live in Europe permanently. Thank you for those who are already living/working in EU for responding with details. As an American citizen your first difficulty will be that you are no national of a EU member state and you are therefore not qualified to work in the UE. You see to our immigration authorities you are not much different as a poor Mexican or Salvadorean illegal is to yours, even if you have a Ph.D. in nuclear physics from M.I.T. Two can play that game. Apart from that the unemployment rates are appaling high in the UE and so employers will give preference to UE nationals. I spent most of my adulthood in Germany, and while I don't know how it is in the other countries, I can assure you finding a job in Germany is almost impossible. I've been trying to move back and no luck. In fact most Germans leave the country to find work. |
