HELP! Relocation to UK: opening a bank account with a credit card?

Hi everybody,

I am French, moving to the UK, London, in 3 weeks, actually I have a bank account (postal account) in Switzerland with a mastercard linked to it.
I have no problem in my credit or bank history and hold this bank account since 4 years and credit card since 2 years.

Which bank could you advice me that could open me a performing current account and offer me a credit card, although I will certainly search a job and have no stable address at the beginning ?

I need a bank in the UK to begin in a job, that's the problem..
HSBC opens an account at distance but only with a debit card associated. Any advice ?

Furthermore, when I will leave Switzerland I am not entitled to keep my actual bank (postal) account, unless I leave 2000 pounds as a provision on it.

Maybe they will not mind in the first 1 or 2 months but after that the post will be the first to know I am no more living there, they will certainly ask me to close my account and give back my credit card.

You will struggle (a lot) to get an account which offers a credit card - or even a debit card - without having a address history or without work. I think HSBC do a 'starter' account, designed as a basic current account to get you up & running until you can apply for a 'proper' account.
