Is a giant fence between Mexico and the U.S. really going to keep would-be illegal aliens out? |
Although I dislike all the Hispanic-bashing that's been going around lately, I do agree with conservatives on one point: Granting amnesty to illegal immigrants or developing a guest worker program BEFORE we stop the tide of illegal workers will not end illegal border crossings. But a giant fence just doesn't sound like an effective solution. And Bush's proposal to send the National Guard down there to sit around and watch illegals sneak over the border is complete idiocy. Don't we have to address the issue of the illegal job markets first? As it is, it's easy for illegals to get a job with a fake social security card. Why isn't the government doing more to prevent the use of fake S.S. cards, to make verification of S.S. numbers easier, to require employers to verify them, & to fine and punish companies & industries that don't? A fence can't keep them all out, & those who fail will just try again. So long as there are jobs here, they will keep coming. Your thoughts? This is all trash to get the focus on illegal immigrants. The economy is going to hell because of a trillion dollar deficit from the pointless war and that is incomparable compared to the millions illegals mooch off the health care system. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=... The rate of illegal immigration has not changed, yet all the stories suddenly switched to illegal immigrant problems in the news. This is a political switch for when blame time comes and the economy is doing horrible, people will blame immigrants instead of the massive accumulated debt killing our soldiers to protect some random countries oil for exxon. illegals work cheap. The companies get more profits. The companies have to pay more taxes. Taxes pays the illegals healthcare. Blame the companies that employ them cheap if you have a problem with that and demand they give them healthcare like any citizen. Right now they work for slave labor prices and get hurt, just like anyone else. The fence will be the largest most vandalized project ever and a waste of tax money. Immigrants what a better life forever. Fences won't stop them. No, but it will be fun watching them try to get over. It won't keep them all out, but it will keep 85% of them out. That's good enough for me. not a 100% but it would slow them down. i just think for this thing to work, we need more border patrols. also the border patrols should be of a different race aside from hispanic if guarding mexico/us border; non canadians if guarding canadian/us border (don't hate let me explain why), as humans we tend to be more linient with our own kind...it's human nature.
