Question for Irish citizens?....?

Im an American and my family is from Ireland (we still have pretty strong ties) and I was recently offered a job (working under an uncle)....I have visited many times but never spent or dove into the culture entirely (Irish-American culture is VASTLY different than purely Irish culture haha)..But my question involves assimilation..I myself am very libertarian and for that reason many of my Irish cousins said that I "would not fit in....very well"... haha, whatever thats supposed to mean, right?..Well, the question boils down to what major cultural obstacles would I face if I moved?

Depends where you go in Ireland. Any of the cities are fine. Rural places still too nosey about what other people are up to. It is also possible that your Irish cousins just don't want you muscling in on what they regard as their inheritance. Try it out, planes go both ways.
Colin I'm Irish here. There is plenty of Americans living here. The actor Martin Sheen is studying at Galway University. I can't see how you wouldn't fit in. Most Irish have some connection or cousins living in the States. Colin your cousins are as we say here "pulling your leg" joking with you. Irish culture is a slower pace.
im iish and we are avery accepting country,we get on with people as best we can,its up to you to make the effort as well as som americans come across as snobby and theres no-one like them, dont under-estimate the irish and dont patronise its insulting
