How does a Brit with 3 years EOD experience get a job in the U.S.?

My partner is ex-British Army. He just retired after 22 years in. He's been explosive ordnanace disposal for at least three years, having led and participated in operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland among other places. Right now he's doing de-mining instruction for the United Nations in Afghanistan.

However, what he really wants to do is move to the United States. Any suggestions?

Contact the Civillan Personnel Office on any US Military Base, I have a feeling that with his experience he would get a job as a civillan employee/instructor in a second. Source(s): A lot of experience with homemade explosives and the people who hire.
Contact the local police departments in the major cities (NYC, LA, Boston, Dallas, Houston, etc.) and see if they would be willing to sponsor him on an H-1 (I think) Visa.

I suggest the larger cities, because those are the ones that are going to most likely need someone. You could try the smaller cities with populations around 1,000,000.

With his experience, I do not see how he could NOT be a needed person.

Congrats to him for doing what he does. A friend of mine (when I was in the military) was EOD. Not a job that I would want, but I was in on many training jobs for them (I was a military photographer), and know just how much work goes into it and all the training.
