Is it easy for an American to get employed as IT Professional in Ireland?

My husband will recieve 4 years bachelor degree in Information Technology in less than a year. I know this is one of the number one job need in Ireland currently. We have been for 2 years now seriously considering to move and studying all we can. We have planned a trip there this September to make sure we like Ireland before pursuing this. I am not expecting this to be easy but I am wondering what the chancing of recieving a job offer in the IT field in Ireland when your an American and will need a work permit. I read mixed view in doing my research on the internet. Some say it will be extremely difficult no matter who you are and what you do. Others say if you have the right skills needed it will be easy to get employed. Thank you for advice.

The f谩s (the government agency that controls employment in Ireland) recently held an expo at a hotel in New York (it was in October or November of 2006), and they are considering having another one. They are actively recruiting people in the IT and medical fields. When I asked for information, a woman at the f谩s sent me the following:

"I would recommend that you log onto www.fas.ie and access the Jobs Ireland section which has a facility which allows Jobseekers to upload their CV's. You will also be able to review the range of job opportunities available through FAS. Other useful careers websites are www.recruitireland.com, and www.loadzajobs.ie The Irish Times, Irish Examiner and Irish Independent newspapers, each produce a weekly supplement on Job Opportunities - their respective website addresses are www.ireland.com; www.unison.ie and www.examiner.ie.

As you are probably aware US citizens require a work permit to work in Ireland, full details in relation to this area are available on www.entemp.ie under the work permits section, and I would also recommend that you access information on living and working in Ireland under the consular services section on www.ireland.emb.org."

Good luck -- Ireland is a wonderful place to live and work!

Depends on your skills in persuading prospective employer that you are the person needed!

Google ireland are currently hiring people.
There are lots of IT jobs in ireland as it is one of the biggest software exporters in Europe. Microsoft, Dell and others.
Software test engineers are also in demand.
Try www.Irishjobs.ie

I don't see your husband having any major difficulties. Ireland is hugely popular with multinational software companies (Microsoft, Dell, Google if that's included?). There are many job websites and recruitment agencies that can also assist. Hope all goes well.
