Cost of living in dublin ireland?

i`m a single lady and have been offered a job for a year or two in dublin centre ,i`ve been told that dublin`s lovely but can be quite expensive.will i be ok with a salary of 17,000 euros a year?

In my opinion you will be pretty poor on 17000 euros a year. Renting a room in the city can cost between 600 - 1000 euros per month. In a pub the drinks are between 5 and 10 euros each. Even buying a sandwich will cost you 5 euros.

I know people on 20000 euros and they find life very hard.

Good luck.

It's f******* expensive.

was there recently for the weekend, 2 vodkas with coke cost 14.70 and friends who stay in Dublin told me that a bottle of rum is 30 euros. Not that I am a big drinker you understand but just to let you compare prices with where you stay now

You'll find things difficult.

It will work out. You sound as if you were given the job go grab the job you want perhaps it has a better salary and also GO ON DA DUBZ

it is very expensive for normal people.

the cost of living in ireland is a joke youll be on a tight budget with that kinda money

Hi I'm Irish, and i live in Ireland now, have lived and travelled all around the world, and like everywhere else there are shops and bars which are v expensive, but there are also v cheap places too, its just about not living beyond ur means.

Most places to rent are about 1200 per month, but that wud b for a 3 bedroom house, which u cud share wit other people

I think u shd give it a go because what do u got to lose?

Best of Luck

Does your job include accommodation? Renting is expensive, but it may be possible to have your own room, sharing a house with others. 17k euro isn't a huge salary - roughly 327 a week before tax, rather less after. The other things you like to do don't have to cost so much unless you expect to party every night, and there are lots of families and students who have to cope on the same money you will have.

Go for it - everything is a learning experience, and you could have lots of fun in the process
