When you live abroad, to whom do you pay taxes? |
I am a US citizen planning to move abroad in the next year. I intend to move to Ireland. Once I have a job I plan to live in Ireland while renting a home. I will not own property in the US nor in Ireland. As a US citizen, you will be subject to a tax on worldwide income unless you go through a formal expatriation procedure. Robin Hood If you're a U.S. citizen living abroad and your income is not from the U.S. in any way, you don't have to file with the IRS. You will have to pay taxes in Ireland, which would include any applicable income and property taxes, plus whatever other taxes they may have over there. I know the UK has a bunch of taxes like road tax, TV tax, etc., but not sure if they have those taxes in Ireland. |
