What to do?!?!?

6 weeks preg with 2nd child. partner terrified and wants abortion (i cant even get one here in northern ireland). 24 yrs old, partner is 22 both with permanent jobs earning over 拢2000 per month and have our own home together. son is 41/2. is he just frightened or am i throwing our lives away by having this baby? i think we will be fine and that a baby will be the most beautiful gift to us.i feel its not the end of our lives just the begining of a new one. is it because this is his first baby? we've been together nearly 4 years. please help as this is really getting me down and im a happy person ALL THE TIME!!! we do want another child but he says not until 2-3 in the future

Apparently, your partner wanted to have unlimited sex but no consequences.

Pregnancy is one of those consequences and he must face up to it and support you in your choice to give this baby life.

Sure, there are all sorts of reasons he's not ready for a baby right now, but the fact is, he's a grown man now and being sexually active and he's got to own up to his responsibilities.

If you feel he is so hostile that he might harm you or the new baby, then leave him.....or put the baby up for adoption. And please try to find a man who will marry you and commit to you and ALL children you have.

i think your partner seems a little selfish to me x x if u want this baby keep it. u may end up resenting him if u get rid of it, my partner wanted an abortion too, but as soon as he saw it on the scan he instantly changed his mind and he is a wonderful dad and constantly apologising for what he said x x

tell him that you didnt do this to yourself and he is there with you or he is not..do what your heart tells you to do. we dont always get what we want when we want and he should havem known this being a father

He's just freaking out. Give him time to adjust. Don't cave in and get an abortion just because he's scared. That's the worst reason ever to have an abortion.

Either he'll "man up" and take care of you and your child, or he won't. You just need to decide if you can handle being a single parent if he doesn't shape up.

2,000 a month? thats not alot of money.

babys are very expensive.

keep the baby.
or give it up for adoption.

your current child will not be AS JEALOUS and he would be at 6 years old of the new baby so right now is a good time its blessing.

all men freak out on their first baby.especially because they really have to man up and keep the family in order now.

it will be okay.
just make sure youre financially stable.

I agree. Your partner does sound selfish. if he was mature enough to have sex, then he should be mature enough to raise a child. He might just be frightened right now, afterall, your only 6 weeks pregnant. Its your body, and if you dont want to give this baby up, by all means, dont. You will regret it later. But express them to him, and if you truely want this baby, and he is as imature as he sounds, then you might have to consider doing this on your own. I doubt that would happen if you two have been together for 4 years, but if you truely want to keep this baby, I would express that to him, and tell him you will do it with or without him. Im sure he will come around. Most guys kinda get freaked out when an unexpected pregnancy pops up.

best wishes

Tell him that the baby is coming sooner than later. He's just scared but he'll get over it, I hope. No matter what your situation, tell him no one regrets having a child. You'll be fine, just stay healthy for the baby's sake. Don't get an abortion for him, you'll regret it. Give him time, the first time he hears the heartbeat, he'll melt and fall in love.
