How to stop outsourcing software jobs to India? |
How to stop outsourcing software jobs to India? Right now, there is unfortunately nothing that can be done. Because at least every major shareholder company, has to do it to show value to their shareholders and that they understand the concept of globalization and value creation/cost cutting. The thing we can hope and look forward to is however that even in a country like India with 1.3 billion people, the natural resource pool is limited, too. At a much higher number of course than in most countries (except China). However, if we look at the Silicon Valley India's, they start feeling the crunch already. Thousands of job vacancies, an infrastructure that can't catch up with the growth rate there, can be felt. And once people realize that they are in demand, they will learn very, very fast that they have a certain value and will demand for higher pay. And if productivity gets lost in bad traffic conditions, if every day people need hours to travel to and from the office, companies might start thinking.. Retention is another big problem, if there are too many open jobs. Because there might be that competitor that is dying to get people on board. Although I believe this hasn't peaked yet, i wouldn't be all that pessimistic about the whole situation. Of course, India and China is not the only threat. In Europe, companies move towards the East. Russia is also famous for its great scientists. And South America hasn't taken off yet. Well, there's surely hope but patience is required.. As per international economic scenarios and practility are concerned, there is no way to stop outsourcing software jobs to India, or other outsourcing destinations. |
