Is it true that network adm. and computer analyst jobs are being outsourced to India etc? |
I'm studying computer networking, I made my decision after doing extensive research on the profession and reading US Dept. of Labor projections on job growth and availability up till 2014. Aparently this is one of the fastest growing fields in the country, it is also tagged as "in demand" occupation. But I keep running into people that say the cosc jobs are being outsourced to India and other countries. How is that possible? I understand that part of the job is telecommuting, depending on the situation, but how is it possible to maintain hardware from another country? Everyone is talking about cosc going down under, and how it's horrible because you have to keep getting certifications and keep up your education. I'm just wondering what everyone here thinks about it, or if they have dealt with becoming obsolete in the field. What is really going on??? There are lots of jobs available in this field and only a few 'cheap labor intensive' jobs are being outsourced to India/China. You do not need to worry about that. A good education will always land you up in a great job! Chill out babe!!! Yes it is true. Why...who knows. Right now most companies just seperate support by east and west coast. That way if there is an outage on the east coast then support will always be available since it is on the west coast. Maybe they are doing this so that if there is an outage or problems with the whole country that the other country can tell us what is up. it is true i have a friend that worked for a company that did contract work for IBM. He was laid off and the company moved to India but not before the employees were made to train the new workers Yes, LandAmerica outsourced their escrow files to India and is not taking them back. The company in India was screwing up alot and not doing the job efficient enough. Because LandAmerica has a service guarantee which refunds escrow fees whenever a customer was unhappy with any portion of the transaction(refinancing/sale of a house), they were losing money. Recently they are letting India do some refinances, but the people only do 9 orders a day and a person in the states could do at least 40. Wasn't as cost efficient as they thought and they let alot of workers go because they thought they were saving money. In the end it's costing them more. |
