How come people aren't getting nervous over all the outsourcing of jobs going to India ? |
I guess lettuce picking is a better job. Hahahaha ! Who says people aren't getting nervous. I'm in a technical profession but not too worried for myself, it would force me to change to some other career, most likely more exciting. But I'm still pissed about it, because of the betrayal aspect. It's just like the illegal alien crisis.... no one likes it, everyone is insulted by it, but the politicians and corporations don't give a good damn. To be sure it is frowned upon by American working class, but then, it's a Corporate Head that's made the decision to outsource. How to fight back? Refuse their products, their service, and your money by going elsewhere. And letthem know why they've lost your business. . Its not against the law. I don't like it, but it is legal, and it doesn't make me nervous. I just refuse to support businesses that do it. You also have to look at the number of companies from other countries that have divisions in the U.S. - my husband works for one. There are jobs that come in here, too. The answer is many people are not only nervous about it, but its a big labor issue. Most people don't want their jobs exported away like that. Besides, I stopped buying Dell products because I would have to call some stupid number in India and talk to someone who could barely speak a form of English I could understand. Worse yet, I had to stop using Norton Anti-virus and go with something else for the same reason. Okay. So yes I and many other American voters are very, very worried about our jobs being exported to India. Thank you. They are.....where have you been? Now we have more jobs going to Mexico when they close the Freightliner trucking manufacturer . We've had jobs leaving here by leaps and bounds for "cheap labor".....we don't need more "cheap labor" moving in. What prey tell do you think the citizens are supposed to do to live? NAFTA has hurt us as well and not everybody who's a citizen is guarenteed a college education and top pay. Tons of people are loosing decent jobs and having to try and make do on less while they import more to make those jobs keep paying less and less because now they have tons of illegals who will work for less. Alot of these people are older and aren't able to pick lettuce and their job prospects aren't all that great because of their age yet they need to survive too. There's only so many Wal-Mart door greeter jobs out there and they shouldn't be expected to learn Spanish to compete with illegals for the jobs that are there. The people I know refuse to do business with a company once they realize it is outsourcing customer support and such to other countries. What good is it to pay less for labor when your customers can't understand your customer support people? We are. It is all part of the same puzzle. Greenspan calls avoiding paying American level wages an 'antiinflationary' measure and is calling for unlimited skilled visas, as well. Essentially, business wants to use the cheapest worldwide available labor for all work, including work for items we buy. They outsource what they can, and want 'guest workers' or illegals to drive down domestic wages for things that can't be outsourced, such as construction of houses here. We are against the entire picture, since competing with 3rd world wages means living a 3rd world lifestyle. |
