What are the job oppurtunities in India for a person studying Astrophysics? |
Which all institutions in India provides jobs in research in Astronomy? How exactly may IITs help in this ? jaghoppasigen apparently lives under a rock. Some websites you might find useful: 1) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) 鈥?scroll down the ISRO page for links to other sites - http://www.isro.org/ 2) National Centre for Radio Astrophysics http://www.ncra.tifr.res.in/ 3) Indian Institute of Astrophysics - http://www.iiap.res.in/index.html... (sometimes this link doesn鈥檛 load for me and I use http://prints.iiap.res.in/ There's also a little info about IIAP on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/indian_inst... 4) Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics - http://www.iucaa.ernet.in/ 5) Positional Astronomy Centre of Kolkata - http://education.vsnl.com/pac_cal/... 6) And just for interest, Indian Academy of Sciences鈥?Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy - http://www.ias.ac.in/jaa/index.html... I HAD NO IDEA INDIA HAD A NEED FOR ASTROPHYSICS NOR THAT IT HAS SCIENTIFIC INSTITUTIONS. Search in internet! Anywhere you go, you had better get used to filling out paperwork. It seems like most astrophysists are experts in filing grant applications because that's how they spend most of their time. If it's grunt work you're after (look through telescopes, computing data, and getting absolutely no credit for your discoveries) go with the perpetual student track. |
