As an American, can I get a job WHILE in India and then get visa or do I have to come back first?

Hi. I'm thinking of going to India next year for extended time but I'll need a job while there. I got some good answers about how to find a job (though any more thoughts on that would be great too) - my question is, do I need to go back and forth to get a job? Or, can I look for one while there and get hired and then get work visa/permission? I have no idea how working in India works for an American. Also - what is a BPO? :) Thanks!

well, it depends. I heard many Americans went to India only for job purposes. But it will be difficult for you to find job in India, rather you should select job here and then go there. Hope this helps!
