How are Americans being perceived in Europe right now?

I will be moving to Europe for ~6 months for a job and am wondering what to expect from locals. I was in Central America for the summer and there i experienced negative feelings from other european travelers once i told them i was American.

Should i expect the same in say the UK and France?

It depends on who you talk to and what your political position is.In general I think the UK is more positive to the US than say France or Germany at the moment. However most Europeans make a distinction between US politicians and US foreign policy and Americans per se.So generally they like Americans and not American foreign policy.
I really don't think that you'll feel excluded -but you'll find after a beer or two that people will quiz you about why George Bush does this or that.I think its fair to say that people in Europe generally have a bigger interest and knowledge of world politics that the 'average' American. But then you are not the average American.

I live in London
