By a tourist visa I take it you mean a short term visa that is good for a stay of less than 90 days. You may NOT remain in France for longer than 90 days with a tourist visa.

If you wish to go to France and live there with your boyfriend then you must apply for a Long Term visa.

For a tourist visa you are required to submit the following documents (Original and photocopy);

Signed application for a visa with photo taken against a white background (35mm x 45mm) + 1 extra photo

Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip as well as dates and places to be visited

Details about the trip:
Confirmed hotel booking or affidavit of lodging (Attestation d鈥橝ccueil) if you are invited by a French resident.
Round trip flight booking (do not purchase your ticket untill your visa is granted).
Complete itinerary with departure and return dates

Proof of employment (if any):
Certificate of employment with monthly salary and leave of absence approved by employer
For self employed : official business registration for current and previous year.

Proof of income:
Income tax return from previous year, where applicable
Photocopy of international credit cards
Recent bank certification
Photocopy of the last three months statement of account of the same bank account

Identity / Marital status :
Photocopy of the first page of your valid passport and all relevant obtained visas
photocopy of your birth certificate authenticated by the NSO

An international valid worldwide travel insurance (medical expenses and repatriation) for the duration of the visa and valid for all Schengen states. Minimum coverage should be EUR 30,000.
For a visa valid 5 to 15 days, insurance policy should cover 30 days.
For a visa valid 16 to 30 days, insurance policy should cover 45 days.
For a visa valid 31 to 90 days, insurance policy should cover 90 days.

hallo,
You will need European travel insurance that includes medical cover and repatriation. It must cover the duration of the requested French Schengen visa.If you are only insured for your specific trip, you will only get a Schengen visa for that period. To qualify for a 6 months or longer Schengen visa you will need travel insurance that covers the entire period. Please include the travel insurance certificate that states your name, period of cover and what you are covered for.
The bank statement must be the original statement that the bank posts to your house, with your name and address on AND. Dated not older than one month from date of travel departure. You should have at least 拢40 per number of days planned to be spent in France, in your account. If you do not have sufficient funds in your latest original statement, you can include an up-to-date internet printout of your account that shows sufficient funds. However, we still need an old original statement with the new printouts. If you do not have a bank statement you can buy travelers cheques. You will need 鈧?0 per day in France and include the original travelers cheques with your Schengen visa application.
