Where to start looking for a job in ontario canada?

I have a fiance from France and to make it easier for her to become part of society with me and so we can start a family I would be willing to move there. I don't work for a company that has any business in Canada. 2 questions. DO i an American citizen need anything special to get a job there and move there. question number 2 would it be very difficult to get a job there. Like it would be for me to go over to Europe and find work.

Dont listen to Pagan Dan. I wonder if he has ever been to Canada. The only thing he said that made sense is that Americans don't automatically have the right to work in Canada. Americans must apply for work permits like everyone else.

Thats the only thing that he knows about Canada!

Right now there is a labour shortage in Canada. The shortage isn't in unskilled workers but with skilled workers. The shortage is so severe that the Canadian Federal Govt. has recently changed laws so that tradesmen have an easier time getting work permits here.
The next thing that he said that was stupid is that the French communities in Ontario are only found in small towns near the Quebec border. Every major city in Canada has a major french community. People generally don't see them because they dont look for them. For example in Alberta the two major cities of Edmonton and Calgary have very big French communities. In fact I live in Calgary and I have conversations in French with people I don't even know all the time.
Northern Alberta has alot of French communities, where people usually are bilingual.
If you are truly looking to move to Canada I would consider moving to Alberta before Ontario. The Ontario economy has alot of jobs that rely on manufacturing products and exporting them to the U.S.. The Canadian dollar trading above the American dollar has really cast alot of doubt on the Ontario economy right now. Alot of recent lay-offs because of this. It might be easier to find a job in Alberta, Saskatchewan or B.C. If this interests you look at the French Community websites in the major cities in these provinces to see if your fiance could handle living there.

I am not proof reading this so sorry if there are mistakes I have no time.

Americans do not have the automatic right to legally work in Canada. You have to get a work permit like everyone else. I understand that there is a lot of work in Canada at the moment, but a lot of it is unskilled, semi-skilled, and low-paid.

Why would it necessarily be easier for a French woman to become part of society in Ontario than in the US? In some parts of Ontario a lot of people speak French, and in other areas hardly anyone does. The French-speaking areas tend to be rura and small town environments close to the Quebec border. This is not exactly a familiar environment for a French woman, especially if she comes from a big city in France.

I'm not going to have a side discussion with the person who answered after me. Just to set the record straight, I have lived in Canada all my life (except for a few years off and on in Taiwan). I was born in Vancouver, I lived in two cities in Ontario, I'm bilingual French and English, and I KNOW what I'm talking about. The next answerers point about a shortage of skilled labour (note the spelling!) is true, but I assumed that the French fiancee is not a journeyperson. I could be wrong.

As for everything else, French is NOT widely spoken in Canada, outside of small towns in Ontario, in Quebec (where it is the only official language), and New Brunswick (Canada's only officially bilingual province).

I stand by what I say. It behooves all of us in this forum to respect the opinions of others with whom with disagree, and to refrain from using the anonymity of the Internet to be impolite to each other.
