Je regret. Je ne parlez pas Francais. I do some. But haven't spoken it in....over 25 years. I was made to feel completely ignorant in France (Toulon, Nice...Villefranche) because they said they didn't understand me, but in Tunisia at one place they thought I was Italian because I spoke French with an Italian accent. On an small island in the Indian Ocean, there's Mauritius and they speak a French dialect, yet they understood me. My shipmate said the dialect was almost identical to Cajun (French dialect in the Bayous of Louisiana). He was Cajun, I GARONTEE.
