Dear english people, your opinion please.? |
Here in France we'll soon go on strike (at least a part of us) an another time. Somes agree, somes not. Do you have lots of social movement too ? if not how do you preserve or enhanced your job conditions ? In the 1970's strikes were called the English disease. we just had a huge postal strike from royal mail workers, hope that helps We Brits seem to let the government walk all over us and never do anything about it. It wasn't always this way. The miners could teach us a thing or two! Bonjour. we stopped striking here years ago (well apart from les gentilhommes de la poste) well done for standing up for your rights, the unions in this country are not as strong as they used to be, some companys wont even employ you if you are a union member, if we go on strike we will loose our jobs and one of the millions of eastern europians that have invaded our country will step into our shoes and do it for half the wage In England people tend to look after their own wealth and life so... the English dont tend to care that others in society are suffering conditions or issues that are not right. We british workers have no sense of worth- we are just cash cows here to be milked for all were worth by the british government- we allow ourselves to be walked all over- the only way to get out of this vicious circle is to either become a member of government yourself or go on the dole - then you contribute zero and get everything. We used to have a lot of strikes in this country, but since the great Margaret Thatcher sorted out the Trade Unions it does not happen very much now. When you were looking for work to pay your bills----you had the pay and conditions explained to you. non cest un problem grand No...France is very different from the UK...France is so socialist...and we are not..we are not an Industrial nation.nor are we in an Industrial era.....I'm sure Mr Starkozy will try to get France to be more like Britain....you can not carry on like that....its a different era. Yes we have lots of problems with working conditions and pay, but Mrs Thatcher and her crowd introduced a whole bunch of legislation which makes striking difficult. I don't think our unions ever recovered. But then, that was her plan wasn't it! The rights you are fighting for are restrictive and sre preventing France from becoming a great nation. We English just prefer to tut, talk about doing something, and then do nothing. I prefer the French way |
