America: far behind the baby curve?

I've read that America falls in the bottom 5 list of countries as far as allotments and/or programs for working mothers who have children. I read somewhere that countries like France and England have a whole system developed to ensure mothers can take care of their children, and they are OK financially and there is no fear of losing their job. I've also read that they are granted a lot of more time off to raise the newborn, something like 3 months.

Does any one know what is provided for women from different countries? Aside from what I said...and maybe you could correct me if I am wrong in what I said.

I just want to know exactly HOW FAR America is behind. Thank you!

Denmark....we are socialist and i don't feel at all threatened or forced. Its much more safer, peaceful , and free here then in america and i am american.
We get maternity pay for one year, all pay and not half, plus monthly payments from the government to the baby, we get free medical and they come to us, and the we get the childrens payment til they are 18 then they get it themselves for cost of living and college. We also if we don't want to go back to work or lose our job still get paid unemployment forever, the full amount. our medical system isnt behind and there is no waiting period for anything. You can also buy private insurance like in the states if you so choose.
our taxes are high but it comes out the same as if you paid your own insurance. You still don't always use your own insurance but you pay it anyway in case. So to me it is the same no matter which way you flip it.

i also have a lot more money then i would in the states even with high taxes because the minimum wage standard is higher then the states. We also have the highest standard of living here in denmark. i buy whatever i want fo rme and my family.

Then do everyone in America who still like liberty over security and MOVE to Denmark or any other socialist country Report It

Canada I believe have where the mom can take a whole year off with half her pay. not sure about other countries but doesn't surprise me that America is behind the curve at all.

Behind?

Why is it everyone who pays taxes (many of them are 2 parent working families) have to pay for the decisions of people who decide to have children (that is both men and women as there are both single fathers and mothers).

Socialists.

and yeah I have kids. They'd have a hell of lot more money if I didn't have to pay so damn much in taxes to pay for services I don't use.

Socialist.

I give over 11% of my pre-tax income to the less fortunate...but that is VOLUNTARY!!!! My taxes however are corerced out of me by threat of force.

Socialism is anathema to liberty.

America is NOT behind.

to the next poster who says they do not feel forced...try not paying your taxes...even those taxes for services you don't use and then tell me you don't feel forced.

and to the idea that "but it comes out the same as if you paid your own insurance" I would disagree totally...the bureaucratic layer adds deep costs...besides my point was about choice and liberty...in that regard America is NOT behind.
