Can I take paternity leave from one EU country and work in another? |
I mean can I leave my present job by taking paternity leave and go and sign a new contract in another EU country? Read the rules. I've linked to them below. Note that the DTI site says ". . . is taking leave either to care for his child or to support the mother or both;" That suggests you have to be caring for baby and mother, not galavanting off to Europe to make money. But what do I know. Source(s): http://www.direct.gov.uk/parents/employm... http://www.dti.gov.uk/employment/employm... No. NOW DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT OR HONEST? I WOULDN'T THINK SO And then you'd get sacked because paternity leave allows you the choice of being unavailable for work to be with your child ,if you are working elsewhere then you are available for work and committing an offence That would be considered fraud in many countries. Be careful. You may be spending your paternity leave in prison. Yes, but it would be illegal. During paternity leave your employer is still paying social premiums for you and that's the clincher. If you take sabbatical then it would be OK. |
