If my German tourist Visa expires and I leave the country, can I still get back in? |
I'm moving to Germany with my boyfriend who is going for work so his Visa is all worked out. I'm wondering how to figure out this Visa thing. If I get a job as a part-time English teacher, can I get a German Visa, I heard it is very hard for non-EU citizens to get visas there. I also heard one option is to just stay on an expired tourist visa which only last three months. But then I am worried that if I leave the country after three months and then want to get back in, they won't let me. Is this the case? Also, is there some way I could extend my visa through my boyfriend who could "sponsor" me or say I am his dependent? You neglected to say where you're from (what passport(s) you hold). Staying beyond you visa is a bad idea, any contact with the police could get you arrested and sent home, and would create serious trouble if you ever want to gain entry to any of the Schengen countries. Typically there are rules to keep families together. Contact the German embassy and explain your situation. Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/schengen_tr... Yes, it's hard for non-EU members to get visas, but if you are an American citizen, you are in another category as being from a far lesser risk country. A visa would probably be granted to you easily, as long as the job is willing to sponsor you and back you up. Do not stay in the country past the terms of your visa - it can cause a lot of problems for you, and re-entry could not only be difficult but next to impossible. You should be looking into a Type D Schengen visa, and you can go to http://www.schengenvisa.cc/?ns_cid=4... for more information. I would not risk getting into trouble with immigration in a foreign country! They can legally confiscate your passport which takes all your power away, in terms of coming back home! Try to apply legally, regardless of what people say! Germany may not be as lenient as us in terms of immigration. Getting into immigration problems overseas can be a nightmare come true! It's not worth it! |
