What are my chances of getting a ski resort job in Canada in January? |
The season starts in November so will I be too late? I am kiwi but have a working holiday visa... Not sure of exact destination in Canada yet. Any tips? January is a little late. Most of the hiring is done in October, or even earlier. Everyone wants to work at Whistler, because of the 2010 Olympics that will be held there, but it's very expensive and difficult to find a reasonable place to stay. There are several resorts farther inland, Vernon's Silver Star and others, that are likely a better opportunity. Kimberley and Rossland have smaller hills, but they offer good skiing and it's easier to find accommodation. The ski camps around Invermere, Radium, and Jasper could work for you. They are popular, but not quite as crowded or as expensive as Whistler. The Laurentians are wonderful -- different kind of snow, and different type of skiing, but a great place to be. Quebec might be a problem if you don't have any French. Why not send in applications to all of them -- you never know your luck. Kia ora. start looking now !!! LOTS of snow on it;s way Check out : http://www.skicanada.org/ One of the best places to look for work is the Resort Work website. http://www.resortwork.co.uk/job_director... I would recommend Whistler in Canada, its an amasing resort. One of the biggest, very famous, great apre ski, good for all ages. When I was there Cameron Diaz and Justin timberlake were there on holiday. If you love it you can stay on for the Summer season when they still operate the lifts to do bear walks and helicopter rides. Its very big on Hiking in the Summer. www.resortwork.co.uk ignore the previous post- he's an idiot. There are tons of jobs in the whistler area, but the worst part is finding accomodation- rent is really expensive, lots of workers live in Pemberton and Squamish and commute. January is kinda late, I would send off your resume before you come, it might be better if you came earlier. I don't think you will be homesick at all as there are thousands and thousands of aussies and kiwis at whistler! If you can't find work in Whistler try Banff. they are always looking for people at the ski resorts. accomadations are very crude at best, but you will have alot of fun :) sooner you apply the better too! |
