Finding a job in Canada?

Tips? And what provinces/cities are best for job growth at the moment?

I would imagine that a good majority of the jobs you'd find would be in Southern Ontario (Toronto area - where I live, not to be biased or anything, lol.. it's just because of the larger population,) Southern Quebec, and Alberta (Suncor was hiring like mad last year as I recall.. may still be the case.) Another good area is the Vancouver area... nice scenary there too btw. Because of the aging population I would imagine that within the next few years there would be lots of jobs popping up. If I were in your shoes, I'd do the following things - as anyone should normally do when looking for a job:

1. Look on job websites, like monster.ca or workopolis.ca; newspapers are also good sometimes
2. Get your r茅sum茅 critiqued and keep it up to date. Get references when you can. Reference letters are the best - especially if you have a reference from a former professor.
3. Keep applying. Send out as many r茅sum茅s as you can to jobs that you're interested in. Tailor each r茅sum茅 to the needs and requirements of the job descriptions (ex. if they're looking for someone with good communication skills, you might want to emphasize this in your r茅sum茅.) Also, keep track of the companies you apply to.
4. Sometimes it's not what you know, it's who you know. Look for possible connections within the network of your friends and family who may know someone who's hiring, if at all possible.
5. Follow up with phone calls after you apply (perhaps after a week or so) - to show that you're interested in the job.. ask something like "Hi, I just wanted to know what the status was on the job posting..etc.etc." Some companies have hundreds of r茅sum茅s to go through and initially what they'll be doing is looking for the key words in your r茅sum茅 that match what they're looking for.
6. Don't give up. It might be frustrating for a bit, but you have to be persistant to get what you want in life - and that doesn't only go for jobs.. goes for a lot of other things as well. ;)

Good luck, hope this helps a little.

depends what you do - lots of stuff out west - calgary is booming
hmmmmmm toronto and montreal. but you might have some problems with french if you choose montreal!
Try Fort McMurray or Grande Prairie, Alberta. They are starving for more skilled workers. Alberta is booming once more with high gas prices, etc.
Well Ontario, and Toronto are the best places to look for jobs. Toronto is huge, with lots of job opourtunities. Toronto is the largest financial city in Canada.
Be a hockey player!!!!!!
Alberta is BOOMING!!
