Is it required to give two weeks notice before quitting your job in Canada? |
If I never signed a contract? Also, is it recommended to do it anyway? I've never heard of any hard law that requires employees to give two weeks notice when they're quitting. How many employers to you know give employees two weeks notice before firing them? =). Seriously, the two weeks is meant to be a courtesy to the employer affording them an opportunity to find someone to replace you. If you up and quit without any notice, you'll burn a bridge (they won't give you a favorable recommendation) and you'll leave them in a tough position. It is not required anywhere but if you want to use the place as a reference it is a good idea, not to mention ethically proper so they have time to fill your position. If you don't care you can just walk out. Just be careful of burned bridges. |
