I am a certified data entry specialist trying to relocate to Canada and am curious to know...? |
How is the administrative/clerical job market in Canada and will I be able to live comfortably with my wife and kids on the earnings I'll be making?...where would be an ideal place (city/apt suggestions, pls) to relocate to and what will be guesstimate of the cost to make such a move next year? lots and lots of VERY high paying jobs (they get $16/hr at Dairy Queen!) in Fort McMurray but housing is VERY, VERY expensive Edmonton has a very good economy and houses are cheap compered to most major markets. The Canadian unemployment rate is very low right now. Both BC and Alberta are desperate for workers. The major cities are Vancouver in BC, and Edmonton or Calgary in Alberta. I don't know what it would cost, as I don't know where you're coming from. Good luck. Housing costs in BC are extremely high right now...to get into a 1 bdrm condo in a decent area of vancouver will cost you btwn 250-300,000 CDN. Here in the interior, it's on the rise drastically. Living expenses in alberta are considerably cheaper, although Calgary is getting higher. Edmonton is still totally reasonable for housing. The west is where it's at in terms of employment! Edmonton has many nice surrounding communities (suburbs really) that are reasonable and nice places to raise families. OF course, BC is the most beautiful province in the west! Good luck! www.mls.ca Definitely don't live in the big cities, the housing prices are around the $400000 or more range, you'd never make it on your salary. Kamloops, BC I recently saw on the news that Kamloops is the most inexpensive place to live in Canada (all things considered such as education, transportation, housing, taxes, etc.) and that Kamloops has a booming job market right now, with too few workers to fill it. Union jobs will usually pay better, and you may want to apply at companies that have unions. Perhaps you could apply at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. CTV news (channel 9); I lived in Kamloops for a brief period of time |
