French needed for canada jobs?

i m a singaporean wanting to find a job in canada. Is french a must to know in order to get a job and mingle?Do they use french everywhere?

how difficult is it to get a job there n wat is life like there?safe for children n all?

French is not required except in parts of of Quebec and New Brunswick. Several people in Eastern Ontario, Quebec and the maritimes are multilingual. Canada is very diverse. In several places the ATM's are in English, french or Cantonese.

Canada is a very civil place. I've been to Singapore, loved It. Very clean a bit crowded. Canada is Huge! Distance is Measured in Hours not Miles. It takes about a week of serious driving to cross the Country. Canada is in the middle of an economic boom, particularly in the West (Alberta). Jobs are plentiful but accommodations are scarce and expensive.

Moving from Singapore to Canada will be a major shock. Temperatures of 40 degrees below zero happen in many places.

no its not a must,
french can help you alot in quebec,
thats where its spoken,

canada is good in general and a pefect place for your kids,
welcome to canada by the way

Living in Canada as I do I can safely say that the only place that you really need to speak french for a job is either in Quebec, or some aspects of government employment. Other than that I do not believe that you need french at all. It is as difficult to get a job here as anywhere else -you must have the qualifications for the job you apply for. Safe for children? Depends on your idea of safe I guess. They sure do taste good for sure, but safe is a relative thing. =)

As for french if you don't know the language the best plce to live would be in Ontario. With the exceptions of: Welland, Cornwall, Ottawa and Kingston.

As for sae places to live with children anywhere but Toronto, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines and Windsor. These are high crime places.
