Are jobs widely available in Canada for a commercial pilot with all the requirements needed?

Are jobs widely available in Canada for a commercial pilot with all the requirements needed?

There are only the terms:
Normal: meaning every 1 out of about 20 interviwees will be hired or;
Shortage of pilots: meaning about 1 out of about 7 or 8 will bw hired.

A shortage of pilots does not mean that you will get in just cos the airline is desperate. There will always be a large amount of unemployed pilots, but a shortage does increase your chances of course.

So to answer your Q , yes it is true there is a shortage and this is how it spun off. After 9/11 Air Canada was near bankrupcy and layed off a lot of pilots and forced early retirement on some of them. Since then it had hired very few pilots and now with the industry strong again and with AC's increasing fleet it suddenly has a big requirement for pilots. So all the smaller airline pilots are now filling in the spaces, whilst they are getting their crew replenishments from bush flying companies and flight instructors. Consequently soon their will be a big shortage of flight instructors in Canada and that is a great way to start off a career and become a very safe pilot. Also ailines much prefer to hire instructors and after doing it for a couple of years u can move up and then up again and again untill u get to AC (if that is ur goal).

Personally I was gonna do it in Canada, but came to England instead, since the airlines here hire you straight after u get ur CPL at 200hrs. I am jst completing my ATPL and very soon will be applying to the airlines. After a few years I want to try and get into Air Canada myself.

All the best.

ya... sure

Once you get at least 1200 hours, yes, but before that youll have to fly into the bush or for a courier or something like that for like $1500 a month.
