Would I have to prove citizenship if I go to Canada and apply for jobs?

Do they ask for identification/status like here in the USA? What if I'm just a barista at Starbucks?

The barista comment was a joke ... I am very educated. But thanks! LOL!

You should research the process of working in Canada on this site:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-...

I am pretty sure that there are no shortage of baristas in Canada and so it's probably not a qualifying occupation. Most of the jobs are in professional and technical fields.

EDIT: Well, you never know on this board what is a joke.

See info on Provincial Nomination Program: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/p...

Or you might be eligible for temporary work under NAFTA: http://www.canadaworkvisa.ca/info/nafta1...

Be good , try!

Yes they will. Canada may not be the US but it is just as sophisticated with their immigration demands.

Yes,proper ID is required.

You don't have to prove citizenship, but you will require a social insurance number, and to get that you have to have some sort of official status. Even baristas at Starbucks

you will need a work permit to work in Canada.
you CANNOT just walk and apply for jobs.

Employers are allowed to ask (at the interview) if you are legally able to work in canada, and if you do not have a work permit, then you legally CANNOT work. If the employer asks you for proof, you have to show them a work permit.
