I qualify for skilled worked visa and immigration to Canada, how can I find a job before I actually get there? |
My immigration application is in process and I hope to have positive outcome in the next 6 to 12 months, I want to find a job in Canada before I get there...how should I proceed??? please advise? Well, I have to disappoint you. Immigration to Canada is not easy even if you seem to be qualified professional. Canadian job market has its way of protecting the interests of those born and educated in Canada so you should expect lengthy process that, I can assure you, would last more than 12 months if you're lucky to get considered. Some companies that are looking for workers have to prove to Canadian Immigration officials that they are unable to find qualified workers inside Canada to be able to sponsor you. So, don't believe agencies that are out to get your money in form of fees that they are going to get you a job placement right away. On your own, you barely stand a chance to get there. You need an actual and formal sponsorship from the employer and as I mentioned above is quite difficult to achieve. But, of course, try researching various job opportunities in Canada and apply everywhere that you can. Remember, strenght is in numbers in this case. check out www.workopolis.com...tons of jobs on there Use online job sites. If there's a specific city you want to go to, look in the help wanted ads of their local paper. Trade publications might also be good, depending on your occupation. In key skills areas, they frequently hire foreign workers, then sponsor them for visas, so they're used to foreign applicants who aren't fully authorized to work yet. Canadian government is very bad! |
