Is there a possibility to work as a fine artist in Canada?

I'm a mexican fine artist looking for a job in Canada.
I've been searching through the NET, but is a hard work. That's why I'd like to ask for help to get some tips so I can contact employers that match my profile as a surrealist, realist artist.

First of all, what you need to do is to go to the government website and familiarize yourself with the requirements for canadian citizenship. There are certain industries that we are looking to hire for. These pretty much guarentee entry into canada.

Next you need to find someone who is willing to hire you/sponser you. You can find jobs through this canadian based website

There are also Artist job posting sites so try these...

You might also want to look into joining the Federation of Canadian Artists. I don't know if you have to be a citizen to join or not, but try looking.

Here in BC there is a huge computer game company that is always hiring graphic designers for their games... try looking up EAgames. I don't know if you do that or not. Otherwise perhaps maybe some sign shops would hire you. I see calls for artists to design community arts projects so you might want to apply for those. Art is a tough market to break so I'm not really sure how to go about it for a foreigner but these links should help a little.

Good luck !

yes i don't see why not.

ask the people of canada

You need to find an agent or a headhunter to promote you in the area your interested in living and working in. Art is functional anywhere? That seems like a strange question since every community can support an artist...you create your own demand.

It's hard to get a job as a fine artist anywhere. Not many people will pay you to paint. If you want to be a freelance artist and sell your work through galleries, you should have a day job. Many artists teach at colleges, but these jobs are quite competetive. Other options include being an illustrator, graphic designer or muralist.

Best of luck! If you know how to get a job as an artist in Mexico, let me know!
